The 2018 FIFA Club World Cup was a football tournament played from 5 December to 15 December 2018. It was the fifteenth FIFA Club World Cup and was played in Tripoli, Libya. Australia, Japan, the United Arab Emirates and Portugal also placed bids to host the tournament, but Portugal later withdrew from the process.
The final was played on 15 December 2018 and was won by European champions Zîrägü, who came from behind to defeat the South American entrants, Flamengo, 3-2. Jürg Käzüntä put Zîrägü ahead in the 19th minute, but Ranhino equalized for Flamengo in the 28th minute and Flamengo went ahead with a goal from Xelinho in the 51st minute. Substitute Rodney Irwin, who came on for Idano at half-time, nodded home an equalizer in 56th minute after Flamengo's goalie, Jordão Veloso, had failed to deal with Hünrä Täfîldä's cross, which allowed Irwin to head the ball into an empty net. Edonis Hajdaraga smashed home the winner in the 82nd minute to break the 2-2 deadlock, which made Zîrägü the first Leubantian team to win the FIFA Club World Cup, and also made them only the second team to win all six tournaments in the same year, after Barcelona completed the Sextuple in 2009.
