The 2018 FIFA World Cup was the 21st FIFA World Cup, an international association football tournament that took place in 2018 in Russia. The tournament involved 32 national teams, including that of the host nation. This was the first time Russia hosted the tournament, as well as the first World Cup in Eastern Europe.

England won the tournament, beating fierce rivals Scotland 3–2 in the final. Germany beat Argentina 3–1 in the third place play-off.
